HEDGE END

Welcome to Elderberries.

Ready for the next step.

Our Elderberries room is a calm and purposeful environment where children begin preparing for school in a way that feels natural and supportive.

Through a balance of guided learning and independent exploration, children develop confidence, resilience, and the skills they need for what comes next.

With a caring and experienced team, every child is supported to grow at their own pace, feeling secure and ready for the transition ahead.

ELDERBERRIES’ LEARNING ENVIRONMENT

Spaces designed to grow with your child.

Our Elderberries room offers a rich and adaptable learning environment that evolves alongside each child.

With a combination of focused learning zones and open-ended spaces, children are encouraged to explore ideas, work collaboratively, and build independence.

The environment supports curiosity, confidence, and a sense of readiness for school.

Story and book corner

A calm, inviting space where children can enjoy books together or independently, building confidence in communication and a natural interest in stories.

Exploration and discovery space

A hands-on area where curiosity leads the way, encouraging children to explore materials, notice changes, and begin to understand how things work.

Numbers and thinking skills

Practical activities help children begin to recognise patterns, explore numbers, and develop early thinking skills through play.

Creative workshop

An open-ended space where children can experiment with colour, texture, and materials, expressing themselves freely and creatively.

Imaginative play area

A space for imagination to come to life, where children act out experiences, build confidence, and develop social and communication skills.

Calm and sensory space

A soothing environment designed to support focus and wellbeing, where children can explore different sensations in a calm and gentle way.

PREPARING YOUR LITTLE ONES FOR SCHOOL

Building confidence through the EYFS framework.

As children approach school age, we gently introduce routines, expectations, and experiences that help them feel confident and prepared.

Following the EYFS framework, we support each child’s development across all areas, helping them build independence, resilience, and a positive attitude to learning.

We work closely with families to ensure each transition is smooth, supported, and tailored to the individual child.

OUTDOOR LEARNING FOR ELDERBERRIES

Exploring, discovering, and learning outside.

Children benefit from direct access to outdoor spaces, with a natural flow between indoor and outdoor learning.

From active play to creative exploration, the outdoor environment supports physical development, confidence, and curiosity.

These everyday experiences help children build independence while connecting with the world around them.
